Seniors

The seniors section at Cotham is once again alive and kicking. Having struggled last year through retirements and injuries the club was been reborn in the 2007-2008 season and narrowly missed out on promotion. Two new teams and two new Captains has seen a large influx of fresh, new players and old boys coming out of the woodwork. With the increase in numbers, training has greatly improved leading to competition for places which has enhanced the playing standards of both teams.

The 1XV is now under the guidance of captain Craig ‘Stringer’ Coulstring. They play in Gloucester 3 but, with the arrival of so many new players and the old guard finding form most thought had seeped out of well worn muscles; they are hotly tipped for promotion.

The 2XV is being spear-headed by Nick Shopland, a long-time servant and coach of the club. With a mixture of both youth and experience in the team the 2s are forming a welcome partnership with the 1XV to drive the club forward.

So now with two teams and an increase in players a new feeling of belief is flowing through the club. Let’s keep this club striving forward and back up to where we belong, as one of the oldest and most respected clubs in the Combination.
