Seniors

The seniors section at Cotham is once again alive and kicking. Having gone through a transitional period the club is now stronger than ever! 2008/09 was an excellent season which has lead to the 1XV gaining promotion into Gloucester 2. With a successful 1XV and a thriving 2nd and potentially 3rd team, Cotham really is a club on the up.

Cotham Park has identified some crucial areas to aid in our further development, with training being highlighted as a key focus. Under our new head coach Marcus Wooldridge (from the FitFirm, Bristol) and his support team, training is developing into a more dynamic and forward thinking exercise, focusing on the 4 main areas; Strength, Stamina, Skills, and Speed.

The 1XV is under the guidance of Captain Craig ‘Stringer’ Coulstring for his third consecutive season with the 2XV being spear-headed by Nick Shopland, a long-time servant and coach of the club. With a mixture of both youth and experience in the team the 2s are forming a welcome partnership with the 1XV to drive the club forward.

So now with two successful teams and possibly a 3rd team in the making this increase in players has instilled a new feeling of belief within the club. Let’s keep this club striving forward and back up to where we belong, as one of the oldest and most respected clubs in the Combination.
