Following disappointment last week at the hands of leaders Kingswood, Cotham Park bounced back with a solid performance in the soggy conditions at Old Elizabethans. After some odd time keeping from the referee that lead to an hour long first half; Cotham went into the much needed break 3 tries to the good. The returning Jack Kelly grabbing a brace and the pace man Julian Hofflin burning off the defense to grab the other.

With the darkness closing in, the second half was more evenly matched with both sides trading well placed kicks to put the pressure on. Some quick ball from a lineout in the Cotham 22 saw the Old E’s replacement second row break through some soft defending to score under the posts. This sparked the Cotham boys back into life. After some excellent running from Jack Butler to break out of the 22, he offloaded, yes OFFLOADED, to his back row partner Dom Carroll in support to score a sweeping length of the pitch try. The final minutes were played in almost complete darkness with the only light being provided by some antiquated floodlights. This didn’t stop prop John Board from lighting up the pitch with his crunching tackles and trademark cry of BOOOOOOOM as he ate another victim.

A hard fought victory in poor conditions saw Cotham run out easy winners in the end with the score finishing 24-7.
