Cotham Park RFC The closest Rugby club to Clifton in Bristol

Simon Heaven and I have organised a tour to the Uplands RFC, Swansea and have been developing a tournament style competition with other local Swansea teams.

U10s/U11s Tour to Swansea, Uplands RFC 4th – 6th September 2009

As you are all aware we have planned a tour for the U10s/U11s squad this coming September. Simon & Paul have made the initial bookings and will make the arrangements for the accommodation, and match v Uplands RFC and other Swansea clubs. This tour has the backing and support of the club; the coaches and relevant officers of the club will all help with their specialist input where necessary. The Tour Organisers are Simon Heaven, Paul Perera, Ian Gatehouse, Bill Ashcroft and Mike Bastowe.

This tour is open to all members of the U9s/10s squads and their parents, guardians and supporters. The weekend chosen coincides with a tournament in the Swansea area organized by Uplands RFC, and we are sure that although they may be a good Welsh team, we have a as good a chance to beat them as any!!

The accommodation is still being arranged and will either be ‘dormitory style’, or Camping. Either way, to save costs will need preparation, including Sleeping Bags, Towels etc. For supervision purposes we will have a responsible adult at all times. If you wish to join the ‘team event’ as parents, we would like you join us. If choose to drive and stay over we would encourage the teams to stick together for weekend and the journey. Simon has organized transport in two mini-buses, and we will are looking to obtain Travel Insurance for the weekend. All players and club officials are insured by the RFU under the club’s insurance for Personal Accident & Liability during rugby activities. We have looked into events around the Swansea area, and we are likely – weather depending to spend time on beaches, and other outdoor activities.

It is the club policy that all members are enabled to take part in all rugby activities, so if any player has any problem with the tour costs, please have a quiet and confidential word with John Crocker or Chris Meechan and we will sort something out.

We will be arranging various fundraising events to raise money for kit etc, so look out for these & make sure that you & your friends support them! As well as this any donations from individuals or companies are appreciated, so far with little prompting we have support from Nails 1 and S&H Properties.

Further details of the trip, including travel arrangements will be notified to you at a later date. Please note that the North Somerset Schools begin Term 1 on Thurs 3rd September, though some schools may make Thursday & Friday INSET days.

For this tour to go ahead we need total amount for the tour of £35.00 to be paid by the 26th April, the last day of the season. Please give your money to John who will deposit it in the club account. Cheques payable to “Cotham Park RFC” please. Would you please fill in & sign the slip below and return it to John with your deposit. Will you also please fill in, sign & return the attached Consent form.
